SUD Counselor
Type: Full-Time / Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Supervisor: Program Supervisor
Job Summary: Counsel individuals in treatment for substance use disorder and facilitate groups in the Options substance use disorder treatment programs.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate groups following the Options treatment program curriculum.
- Manage caseload clients; assist in developing individual treatment plans with clients and tracking client progress through the program.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in staff training.
- Attend case conference meetings to collaborate on client treatment.
- Conduct individual counseling sessions as appropriate.
- Perform crisis intervention as needed.
- Make referrals and placements of clients to detox and residential treatment facilities.
- Conduct urine analysis and breathalyzer tests as needed.
Qualifications:
- Certified with a California state approved agency as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
- Ability to follow protocol and code of ethics.
- Experience with recovery groups and twelve step methodologies.
- Ability to interact in a supportive and professional manner with staff and clients of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Commitment to issues related to addictive disorders and homelessness.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to take a leadership role as appropriate.
- Ability to establish and follow up on priorities in consultation with supervisor.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills desirable.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook.) and ability to learn new applications.
Hourly Pay Range:
- SUD Counselor Registered $25.85
- SUD Counselor Registered Bilingual $26.85
- SUD Counselor Certified $33.10
- SUD Counselor Bilingual $34.10
Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA)
Type: Full Time, non-exempt
Supervisor: Chief of Operations
Job Summary: The LPHA will provide immediate leadership and oversight to key program functions, including organizational planning, treatment program administration, Medi-Cal standards, and general staff support. The LPHA will play a vital role in contributing to the total effectiveness of the fast-growing Options Recovery Services, communicating openly, solving problems proactively, offering creative ideas and working as a positive, engaged team member. Leadership, flexibility, adaptability, and relationship building are crucial characteristics of the individual who holds this position. Strong organizational skills, strategic thinking, compassion, and a desire to succeed are also critical.
Responsibilities:
- Working in partnership with the Executive Director to create and implement new processes and approaches to accomplish the goals and mission of Options Recovery Services.
- Supervise the daily work of the treatment program and special projects of the above-mentioned program functions.
- Work with Director of Finance and Administration to create systems and procedures for enabling support and counseling staff to act effectively as the connection between the various departments within the program is critical.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other social services and government agencies. Attend outside meetings as requested by the Executive Director.
- Assist in partnership with the Executive Director the hiring, training, and evaluation staff members and program managers. Foster leadership potential.
- Maintain quality and quantity of program services and keep abreast of client service needs. Ensure use of evidence-based practices.
- Supervise the maintenance of official program and client records, documents and internal/external communications as appropriate. Ensure compliance with standards (Medi-Cal, CPS, etc.)
- Oversee collection of performance data for all program activities and grantee activities, for evaluation and strategic review and reporting purposes.
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the non-profit sector dealing with substance use disorder treatment programs.
- Oversee the clinical documentation of Medi-Cal contract.
- Provide clinical supervision to staff.
- Facilitate and support staff in providing crisis interventions for clients.
- Assist medical director in reviewing documentation.
Qualifications:
- Experience with recovery groups and twelve step methodology.
- Ability to set and follow up on priorities in consultation with the Executive Director.
- Supervisory and training skills.
- Ability to interact in a supportive and professional manner with staff and clients of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Commitment to issues related to addictive disorders and homelessness.
- Capacity to lead the program staff and also to build team cohesion.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to interact with the public.
- Familiarity with word processing, internet, and email applications.
- Completion of substance use disorder studies courses; certificate in substance use disorder treatment and counseling.
Salary Range:
$105,000 to $117,000 Annually
